"Represented within this artwork is my connection to Wiradjuri Country, particularly my memories growing up of the land around Wagga Wagga.
The dry earth, the hot soul, the muddy water and the dusty wind.
As a child I would often run barefoot and would play at the local park, the park my dad helped build, just up the road from my house. Nearby there was a grassy paddock that I would glide carelessly through, behind the houses, free and full of spirit. There was a pond within, where my sisters and the neighbourhood kids would meet and go tad-polling. I remember keeping my catch inside an old baked beans can, in the muddy water that came with them.
These memories have built my appreciation for the land and all that she gives, even in the hottest of Summers. She gave me in these moments a rich and plentiful childhood. A simple appreciation for nature and a freedom that all children deserve.
